Emergency Medicine Expert Witness
Emergency Medicine is the clinical area of medicine that provides care to patients who require medical intervention to avoid death or catastrophic consequences.
Emergency Rooms, by their very nature, are busy with everything from sprained ankles to cardiac arrests. Most emergency Rooms have associated “fast tracks” which are staffed by physician assistants after triage by the triage nurse. Others simply assign the patient to the next available medical provider (physician or physician assistant).
Not all Emergency Rooms are large level one trauma centers; many are still in small rural and semi-rural areas where a physician or physician assistant may take calls from home.
When a physician assistant expert witness is needed for a case involving emergency medicine, the use of a PA with similar practice experience can assist the attorney in case merit evaluation, physician supervision requirements, as well as standard of care issues.
